SOLD Early 50s Grey Flower Print Dress and Jacket SOLD

A gloriously stylish and elegant suit in a soft silky cotton. A charcoal grey with wonderfully contrasting hot pink, violet and yellow floral design. A sleeveless tailored dress with a cross over bust, centre panel, the gathering and nipped pleats providing the fitted shape to the bust and skirt. Rear 13m (5”) vented split and side metal zip. Small belt loops but no belt. The jacket has a wide open collar that sweeps across the shoulders and back. Tailored darts create sharp and fabulous tapering at the waist. Four fabric covered buttons and two outside edged pockets – barely usable but a lovely design touch. Darted, ¾ length sleeves.

A spectacular ensemble, exquisitely made. A label reads “made in the Republic of Ireland”. I am assured that the outfit originally heralded from Harrods, but the label recently became detached. In great condition, minor wear on the last button and edge, as shown, neither of which are immediately noticeable.

Both the dress and the jacket would ideally suit those with an hourglass figure. As was usual in this era, the waist does come up small compared to the bust.
